The Youth on Capacity Development & The New Technologies

From 29 to 31 May 2013, UNESCO-IHE and partners hold the 5th Delft Symposium on Water Sector Capacity Development in Delft, The Netherlands. The challenges, current realities and new opportunities for knowledge and capacity development in the water sector are discussed during this international forum for water professionals and managers, development practitioners, policy makers, researchers, and capacity development specialists.

Development policy has evolved from financial support for technical assistance to official acknowledgement of the importance of knowledge. Capacity development now has a firm presence on the development policy agenda, including a focus on locally-driven development. Yet in practice, it has been difficult to strengthen the knowledge, capacity and interaction of the water sector across the multiple government institutions, civil society, the private sector and knowledge institutes required. This is evident from the previous Delft Symposia on Water Sector Capacity Development, culminating in an urgent call for water leaders.

In this video, an italian junior researcher makes a evaluation of the capacity development and the importance of the new technologies to reach success on the water sector as a young professional.
