Description

When you are deaf, you don't just lose your hearing. You are rendered marginalised and vulnerable in many other ways. This marginalisation and vulnerability gets amplified during disasters, as rescue workers fail to communicate with you and relief does not match what you most need.

This video by the Deaf Disaster Assistance Team - Disaster Risk Reduction highlights the plight of the Deaf community in Philippines, during natural disasters and thereafter during relief operations.
