Loess Plateau Rehabilitation – Interview J. Vogele

World Bank task manager Juergen Vogele introduces the experiences in the initiation and implementation of the Loess Plateau project and shares his thoughts on how and why this project has succeeded. The experience shows the crucial importance of listening to the indigenous people, understanding the local best practices, designing the projects that provides the incentives for farmers to give up unsustainable practices, and implement the projects so that can be scaled up to non-project areas. This is how successful model projects can be scaled up.
