IWRM and 3R in Central-Northern Namibia

Presented by the Institute for Social-Ecological Research (ISOE) and (BGR), Thomas Kluge, is Namibia’s north-central region that is shaped by the contrast of drought and floods, a lack of permanent rivers, saline groundwater in some places, and the consequences of climate change. Ongoing urbanisation, missing sanitation facilities and soil degradation cause severe stress for the ecological system. These challenges make water supply as well as water management difficult for the people. The project CuveWaters aims to further the conceptual development and practical implementation of an integrated water resources management (IWRM).
