Richard Owen from the African Groundwater Network was invited to present an untested but potentially water reducing method of trapping water in which the aquifer system rather than the water is trapped, thereby aiming to reduce evaporative losses from the soil and subsurface, particularly in areas where alluvial fill is thin.
