World Water day: So what? Who Cares?
World Water Day is upon us again (March 22). You probably know by now that the theme this year is Water Cooperation.
This is the 20th year since the first World Water Day was observed. Like every year, events, discussions and pledges will be held around the world. Like every year, the more critical ones will ask: So what? Who Cares?
These are good questions. And here is a good answer, by UNESCO’s Lena Salamo: “…Its role is indeed to spark the action and encourage people to engage. However, the real action should be taken by its Member States and their citizens, all their citizens. This means literally “everyone”.
