Desertification is one of the biggest threats to poverty reduction, food security and economic -growth. On June 17, the ‘World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought,’ a range of people/ organizations reflected on the issue and shared their views.
Across articles/ blogs/ commentaries, there were some common strands: ‘Forests keep drylands working,’ ‘Sustainable land/ water management limits degradation,’ ‘Desertification can be reversed- there are examples,’ and ‘Drylands can be productive- there are examples.’

**The 3rd International “Water and Film” Events (IWFE) will take place in Marseille during the 6th World Water Forum (March 2012). Entries are invited from movie directors, producers, water stakeholders, youths… and all citizens who wish to express their views on water issues. (More info)
