In Focus: Climate Change
COP 17 has begun quietly in Durban, South Africa. Expectations of securing a global climate deal to succeed the Kyoto Protocol are low. Even so, governments, experts, NGOs and civil society groups at the venue and around the world will be locked in intense discussions over the next 10 days, which will shape the future of international cooperation over Climate Change.

‘Living with Water Scarcity’: TheWaterChannel at the Second Arab Water Forum
We came back from the tri-annual event much enriched by discussions on water scarcity in the Arab region. Participants included government representatives, professionals and intellectuals working with water. They had some valuable insights that will help shape our online and offline activities in the coming year, especially TheArabWaterChannel developed in partnership with the Arab Water Council.
Video Series: Groundwater Security in Yemen- The Role of Local Communities
Yemen is commonly identified with water scarcity and arid landscapes. Less known are its traditional, community-led groundwater management systems. Built on these traditions, good practices of participatory groundwater management can be found in the country even today.
This series of videos co-produced by TheWaterChannel documents five specific cases. It attempts to understand what lessons they hold for Yemen, and for the rest of the world grappling with water scarcity in a changing climate.
