Did you know that every year, nearly 12 million hectares of land is lost to desertification? That’s about half the size of United Kingdom. There is a range of processes that lead to desertification, such as erosion, salinization, over-grazing, droughts and wildfires.
Thankfully, around the world, there are many examples of success in reversing/ limiting/ managing the phenomenon. The mix of solutions varies from region to region. Those that work are invariably the ones that incorporate local knowledge and expertise in defining
problems and developing solutions.
