A lot of the problems that were encountered in Shamba Shape up, were because of the unpredictable weather. Climate is changing and so is the planting season. We learn about the right trees to plant that help conserve the soil. The trees recycle nutrients.

Also, a manual water pump is introduced, this way, no diesel is needed. Near the Shamba, a water tank is installed to which the water is transported by the pump.

We learn about a water conserving method for planting seeds and in addition we also learn about drought resistant crops, napier grass, solar lights that can also recharge phones, rainwater harvesting and energy saving jikos, all to combat climate change.

Shamba Shape Up is the third “edu-tainment” production created by Mediae, and the first of its kind in Kenya and now crossing the borders. Aimed at East Africa’s rapidly growing rural audience, the make over style TV show aims to give both farmer and audience the tools they need to improve productivity and income on their farms.
