Foam river – How cities treat their water bodies

The Vrishabhavati is the only river that originates and flows through Bengaluru, a city of 10 million people in South India. It now carries about 600 to 700 million litres of domestic sewage and industrial effluents every day. The reservoir Byramangala is filled with this muck. Downstream the river or the irrigation channel froths and foams. It is suspected that super-bugs , resistant to known anti-biotics , could be breeding in the cocktail soup that is the reservoir.
