Most of the world’s megacities are coastal. Harbours and ports are lifelines of national economies and international trade. Developing them is imperative, but that certainly disrupts coastal ecosystems and natural processes like sediment transport. In this video presentation, Judith Bosboom and Marcel Stive from TU Delft (The Netherlands) discuss how engineering interventions on coasts can be managed to minimize environmental impact.
