This video shows the drilling of a well in the Ethiopian Fogera floodplain, using the simple sludge technique. Simple sludging is one of the four main manual drilling methods. It can be used to drill wells up to a depth of 35m, both for drinking water and irrigation purposes. The drilling pilot was carried out in the frame of the Flood wells project, a joint effort of MetaMeta, UNESCO-IHE and PRACTICA Foundation, funded by Partners for Water.
