Groundwater and Allied Issues in Irrigated and Urban Areas in Pakistan – Part 1

The video is a talk show in Urdu language, about the topic as mentioned above and consists of three parts. It was recorded and relayed on-air by the Royal Television Channel in Pakistan in April 2012. The discussion was conducted by Abdul Rehman Amjad as the host and Dr. Muhammad Basharat as the groundwater expert. The issues of groundwater depletion in different urban and rural areas in Pakistan were discussed in detail. Different options regarding how we can improve the depleting groundwater resources in these areas were also discussed. Also, the causes and possible remedies of floods caused by excessive rainfall in Sindh province in 2011 were discussed as well. Waterlogging and salinity issues for the area were also discussed.
