The Igunga Eco-Village project is part of the Global Climate Change Alliance Tanzania, funded by the European Union.
The Igunga project has introduced income-generating activities to communities, working with district and central authorities. But these communities in the Tabora region, in northwest Tanzania are suffering from unpredictable rainfall. Tilapia fish farming saw farmers earning an income but due to lack of consistent rainfall, this is now proving extremely challenging. Farmers cannot access water and have been forced to sell young fish stock to recuperate costs.
