Full title: Professionalizing the Manual Drilling sector in Africa
This video describes the professionalization of manual water well drilling for rural water supply in Africa. Manual drilling provides another method to increase access to safe water for rural communities. These techniques provide countries with a low cost way to increase coverage in order to reach the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) for access to safe water.
UNICEF, Practica and Enterprise Works/VITA have developed a toolkit for African countries wishing to embark on the professionalisation of manual drilling. This initiative builds the capacity of the local private sector in order to respond to the ever increasing demand for safe water in rural areas.
