How a recharge pit for harvesting and recharging rainwater is made. The recharge pit is located in a catchment at its lowest point and rainwater flowing overland is directed into it.
They need regularly cleaning on top since silt can accumulate and choke the sand. In general recharge pits are excellent structures to infiltrate rainwater and should be located near borewells if possible.
They help increase soil moisture and also recharge aquifers.
