Rice Straw Composting

This video presents a method of composting rice straw in 45 days at ICRISAT campus. The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is a non-profit, non-political organization that conducts agricultural research for development in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa with a wide array of partners throughout the world. It also shares ideas on improving presentation, if the product has to be sold. ‚Ä®The method is mainly targeted to farmers who wish to prepare compost for their own use or as a business enterprise. When it was demonstrated to farmers in Haryana and Punjab they realice that it is a laborious work, but around 4 % improved yield in a year. The value of the compost was tested at PAU campus in field experiments. It is important to note that good effect of any compost can last for at least 2-years.‚Ä
