Room for the River, Vianen Hagestein, floodplain excavation

The quietness of the Lek river at Hagestein is a contrast of the noise of cars on the bridges over the river. In addition to commercial vessels, recreational boats can also be found on the river. To discharge the water more easily in the future, floodplains will be lowered, dams will be removed, secondary channels will be dug and cribs will be lowered. The floodplains will change into a nature reserve.
