In agriculture, Water Productivity equals the amount of socio-economic benefits created per unit of water consumed. Different stakeholders involved along the value chain receive different amounts of the generated value. The concept “Social Water Productivity” looks at how equitable the distribution is of the agricultural output generated per water unit. It could be used as a parameter for water allocation.
