This is the the story of a successful integrated rural development project in souther Madagascar. From 1996 to 2008, the PHBM encouraged development in production, local governance and physical and social infrastructure in the area. The results were impressive and the economy continued to grow more than a year after the project closing. It represents a model of rural development in other areas of Madagascar and further afield.
