The embankments of polder 29 in Bangladesh were breached in 2015. They were already under considerable threat and community groups with support of local government had made some temporary provisions but nothing could withstand the flood surge of typhoon Comen that took out more than a kilometer of the polder embankment and took away lands and livelihoods for hundreds of people.
