Climate-adept Housing for the Urban Poor

Over one billion people in slums and villages worldwide lack safe, adequate roofing. Corrugated cement and metal sheets are the most widely used roofing materials in these communities all over the world, but these options are uncomfortable and even dangerous.

A key issue is how hot houses with such roofs get during warm weather. Apart from general discomfort, they hamper people’s productivity. With climate change and rise in average temperatures, this issue is only getting worse.

Mahila Housing Sewa Trust is working to create awareness about potential solutions, and facilitating communities to implement them.
