Recharge wells can pick up stormwater and send it to the aquifer for recharge. This can mitigate urban flooding, enhance groundwater levels, and make available well water for supplemental purposes. Depending on lithology conditions, groundwater levels, and recharge rates, these recharge wells need to be designed. In Bangalore, a 3-foot diameter and 20 feet deep well works in most places and can cover 250 square metres of plot area, including the roof area well.
