Reversing the Flow is a 5-year program implemented by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) in 5 countries: Burkina Faso, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Sudan. Merti Integrated Development Programme is one of the implementing hubs in Isiolo County, Kenya. Reversing the Flow (RtF) aims at making communities more water secure and resilient to climate change with landscape restoration, water, and climate adaptation actions. The programme specifically intends to support locally-led initiatives to address local realities. RtF centers vulnerable groups in its response to the challenges of water insecurity, climate extremes, ecosystem degradation, and displacement that these communities face. Communities will be enabled to organize and lead these actions themselves.
This documentary gives voice to the challenges faced by communities along the Ewaso Ng’iro riverbed and highlights their learnings and locally led adaptation actions under the RtF project – turning challenges into action that is community-led, inclusive, and rooted in local knowledge.
