Achieving global food security amid dwindling water resources needs innovations—technological, sociological, and entrepreneurial. Ideas abound in the minds of innovative individuals/organizations around the world. Harnessing them requires supporting them on their way towards sustainability.
In this video Ku MacMahan (USAID) and Marion van Schaik (Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs) discuss what it takes to identify the next big innovation, and for them to achieve scale and sustainability. Along with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), Ku and Marion steer the ‘Securing Water for Food…’ programme. The programme identifies, awards, and supports innovations that will help produce more food with less water…. and make more water available for producing, processing and distributing food.
