Operations and Maintenance (O&M), in the context of water management, refers to the set of activities and practices involved in the day-to-day operations, upkeep, and management of water systems. O&M is crucial for ensuring the efficient, reliable, and sustainable functioning of water infrastructure. Currently, with relatively much attention being paid to new (infrastructural) developments by actors throughout the water sector, the actual delivery of sustainable services from the water system is under pressure, due to inadequate O&M.
