Sindh, Pakistan: Manchar Lake drowns Indus Highway

Manchar Lake (Sindh, Pakistan) is one of Asia’s big lakes, collecting the runoff from mountain areas, especially from Balochistan. Besides, it is fed by toxic discharge of the Main Nara Valley Drain that removes excess water from towns and intensely cultivated upstream land. This year, with the heavy rainfall and floods in the catchment, the lake is bursting, as it seems clear in this film. Cuts have been made to release the pressure. These releases have submerged the Indus Highway between Kotri and Larkana, one of Pakistan’s lifelines.
