Ice boxes are a huge benefit for the fishermen to return with fresh fish after a long days work. The government provide 50% subsidy towards the cost of ice boxes to help them increase their income. When the fish is stored in ice It keeps fresh for at least two days and these coastal communities from India and Sri Lanka can sell them on far areas and get better prices.
